50 Dresses by Tess Vigil is located in Denver's RiNo Art District.
Tess grew up in Denver, moved to NYC to study at Columbia University, then moved to LA with Teach For America to teach 6th-8th grade Social Studies and English in South Central Los Angeles while earning a MA in Elementary Education. While in LA, Tess improved her home-sewing craft by immersing herself in the garment district to understand the business of clothing design and manufacturing. While taking pattern making and sewing classes at Los Angeles Trade Tech College, Tess learned the trade of fashion production working as an assistant for an LA-based kid's clothing line. Then, diving into the ultimate passion project, she designed and made 50 different dresses in her basement.
Tess creates limited edition women's clothes, teaches sewing lessons to kids and adults in the 50 Dresses studio, and encourages maker-culture for all.
Tess also works in education as a Culturally Responsive Education Specialist and enjoys coaching around social emotional learning, developing independent learners, and growing critical consciousness in schools.
